Under supervision and direction, a Development Intern will assist with the production and promotion of fundraising events while also assisting with associated administrative duties. This internship is appropriate for motivated, hard-working individuals who wish to gain skills essential to a career in the nonprofit sector including experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, event planning, and database management.

Hours: The Center operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Interns will work a minimum of 10-20 hours a week within these hours. Attendance at fundraising events outside of normal business hours, including weekends, will occasionally be requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Team Support (Roughly 75% of intern time)
  • Promoting events and fundraisers
  • Assisting with event logistics
  • Soliciting event sponsors and auction donors
  • Other projects assigned as necessary
  • Data Support and Administrative Tasks (Roughly 25% of intern time)
  • Data entry
  • Mailings
  • Assisting with front desk coverage
  • Attending mandatory intern supervision
  • Attending staff meetings and/or other related meetings and/or trainings

The Center for Child Protection will make good faith efforts to meet academic requirements interns may have for proposals, presentations, or research. All written materials, that describe the Center’s programs and operations, shall be submitted to the intern’s supervisor, prior to school submission, for approval.

Requirements:

  • Complete the Center’s Volunteer Application and Interview Process (includes a background check)
  • Three references
  • Complete Center Volunteer Training (9 hours)
  • Ability to stay organized
  • Work 10-20 hours weekly (minimum)
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – required
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with database management – helpful
